The Churches / Le Chiese of Baselga di Pine` and the Trentino

Santa Maria Assunta

The Church of Santa Maria Assunta is one of the oldest buildings of Baselga and its existence is dated to at least 1265, but the structure is likely much more ancient. The valuable apse is in Gothic style, with three windows, and made of local stone. The church is likely the baptismal place of many family members.
Santa Lucia

The church of Saint Lucia, the patron saint of Tressilla, was built in the first decade of the 1700s. In the past, on the occasion of the feast of St. Lucia, a traditional parade was organized with a donkey and a beautiful country girl riding. The procession, which was signaled by the sound of many bells, proceeded along the highways of the country where gifts and sweets were distributed.
San Mauro

San Mauro, the village, has a synonymous history with the ancient church. Both are dedicated to the Benedictine saint, and can be documented to the year 1220. The hill on which the church was built is of great historical value, as it was littered with old tombs and Roman coins, proving its ancient significance.
