Unlike other names derived from the operation of a trade, particular characteristic or handicap, social status, or public recognition; the name Andreatta etymologically falls between surnames. The origin and paternity is from the parent name, Andrea, which derives from the greek "ane'r - Andros (valiant man). The Latin Andréas, became the Italian Andrea.

This name spread throughout the Roman Empire and in Italy with the Christian tradition, in an age when the prestige of the Apostle Andrew was significant. Andrew was the brother of Simon Peter and evangelizer of southeastern martyr in Patras, which generated the legend of the Cross of St. Andrew and increased his importance and popularity. His relics, in order to save them from desecration of the Saracens, were transferred from Constantinople by the cardinal and theologian Peter Capuano, during the Fourth Crusade, and transported to the marine Republic of Amalfi May 18, 1208. He is invoked by the sailors to calm "the winds of evil and the fires of war."

The name spread everywhere, even in the Serenissima "Republica de Venexia," where the name and surname Marco and Marchetto dominated. The first parent was found in the mountains of Trentino-Veneto, in the border area, and his children and grandchildren were thus identified as children of Andrea. The name fruther developed in medieval society at a time when better organization related to the identity of the family unit was needed. The "children / of Andrea" was to be transformed, within three generations from a nickname into a surname, Andreatta.
